A WISH
If the day comes when life suggests a parting of the ways,
That my weary bones, aged, can no longer hold me
When the sands of time, my life's hourglass have all but passed
And my will to move on exceeds my will to remain
If the day arrives when the boundaries of pleasure and pain
Can no longer be deciphered by a troubled brain
And tearful eyes wish to be remembered, strong and smiling
The happiness of memories, not heaviness of heart
If the time comes for me to journey onwards alone
To whatever destiny I have earned, or find
Then set me free, here, over the land I love
At one, in peace and harmony

i would have that wish.
FLOOG: Good morning Mary. Many thanks for visiting.
Beautiful poem to go with a beautiful scene, taken at dusk I presume. :O)
FLOOG: Hi Smits, you are absolutely correct. Taken at the end of a beautiful day. Thanks for dropping by and commenting
very nice poem, almost makes me want to grab a pen and start writing.
FLOOG: Hi, you definitely should. Just let the words flow and see where they take you. I've always found writing a great source of enjoyment, and a release for emotions and feelings at times.
Thank you for taking the time to visit, and to commernt
Like a painting
FLOOG: Thanks Vintage.
Excellent shot. The grain in the back reminds me of the Smoky Mountains (where I spent a lot of happy summer vacations).
Nice balance as well
FLOOG: Thanks David. We are returning there in September for a month visiting our clan, and for the first time we'll have a Digital camera, so I'm hoping for greater clarity and some decent sunrise and sunsets.
Thanks very much for your comments
Lovely shot and lovely poem.
FLOOG: Thanks Aussie, I'm happy that you like them.
How one could resist to make a wish when looking at this wonderful and peaceful image!
Beautiful poem going with it Paul.
FLOOG: Good morning Richard, and many thanks. This is one of my favourite spots in British Columbia, and whenever we venture over, I feel a sense of 'arriving at my destiny' when I stand here. Odd, I know, but an emotional high every time for me.
Wonderful poem Paul with a superb image well done. Reading those words really hit home with me how lucky I am still to be able to enjoy life and my photography.
FLOOG: Scotia, I couldn't agree more. My philosophy in life is to live every day as though it were my last (and not in a morbid sense at all).
It's a marvellous planet, and I feel excited and privileged to be a part of it. Photography allows me the indulgence of capturing moments and places which inspire, thrill, sadden and evoke emotions and memories in me, and that's why I have always loved the many pleasures of snapping away. Have a great day, matey
Really like the pastel palette in this image, Paul.
Regarding your nice package of words, I find myself wondering "To whom are you making this wish?"
FLOOG: Hi Ray, no secret there my friend. My wife understands my wish to be scattered right here, and in Goldstream Park when my time comes. I adore British Columbia, and my heart is here at one with the beauty of nature in the place I feel my spirit is destined to roam.
Hi Floog ~ I think the photo is beautiful and also the poem.
I think the line... And my will to move on exceeds my will to remain ...is so true. henry
FLOOG: Hello Henry, it's very nice to hear from you. I hope you are well. many thanks for taking the time to visit sir. Your comments are much appreciated.
There are qualities to this photo that are hard to define. It touches the soul more than the mind and that's what makes it so wonderful... Thank you for this.
FLOOG: What an amazing and generous comment. I'm really over the moon. Thank you so much for that.
How serene. When I was a child, we did quite a bit of camping in Canada. I remember it being beautiful. Lovely capture.
FLOOG: Hi Sherri, yes, Canada is a country which affects me like no other. There is beauty all over the world, but here, I find a deep and abiding afinity with nature, and an inner peace which soothes me.
Thanks for visiting and commenting
Great landscape. When you are set free you can go anywhere
FLOOG: Absolutely correct, Louis. Many thanks for visiting
Poetry as pretty as the scene.. I love it.
FLOOG: You are very Kind, thank you Earnest
Lovely shot and a beautiful poem! Are you a poet? I love writing poems too! Infact, the meaning of my name is also poem>....
FLOOG: Hi Kavita, what a wonderful meaning to your name.
I've ben called many things during my life, by a multitide of people, but never 'poet'.... LOL. Many thanks for visiting and commenting
Lovely picture, and lovely words. I understand the sentiment exactly - there is a place here in Spain that makes me feel the same way.
FLOOG: Hi Sheila, I'm glad you have a special place which fills you with the same feelings and emotions. I personally think that's important in life.
Thank you so much for commenting
The words and visuals match wonderfully. Love the soft muted colours.
FLOOG: Many thanks, Alexandra
Beautiful scene.Nice colours.Itīs like a unreal place
FLOOG: Hi Yago, thanks. Yes, I just stand and stare and lose myself here.
An awesome and serene landscape!
FLOOG: Thanks, Still. Glad you like it
Beautiful image Paul, what a lovely landscape, and I am sure we all agree with the sentiments in your poem.
FLOOG: Thank you Brian
well i hope you get your wish Paul and a stunning image to go with your wish
FLOOG: Many thanks, Tim
There are worse places, you couldn't imagine this poem with a picture of Rotherham
FLOOG: Ha ha..... I couldn't possibly comment, Bill
A lovely shot, almost abstract in quality. I love the distant colours.
I'm off to Canada in September so hoping for some great shots then.
FLOOG: Hi Alan, I think those great shots will be a certainty. Thanks for your comments
That is so very beautiful, Paul. Let's hope it is still a lake in a few years. A news story on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation say "CBC News has learned that 16 Canadian lakes are slated to be officially but quietly "reclassified" as toxic dump sites for mines. The lakes include prime wilderness fishing lakes from B.C. to Newfoundland."
We have a wonderful environmentally conscious federal government. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/06/16/condemned-lakes.html
FLOOG: Hi Michael, you know that really doesn't surprise me! Call me cynical, but mankind's stupidity and wanton destruction of everything beautiful within reach, is second only to his natural need for war and greed.
Our governements must be related! Many thanks for your informative comments |
