BENNY'S PLACE
OXLEAS WOOD
JUNE 13 2008
Ah, the sheer unadulterated bliss of a bright summer's morning on my old wooden limbs. The unbridled joy of clear heavens to greet my grateful eyes, and deliciously warm rays tap dancing seductively across my smoothly sanded form.
On glorious days such as this, just me and my shadow shooting the breeze, I truly believe there must be a tree God up there looking out for me. The all too brief delight of a clearly unobstructed view without the cumbersome, fidgeting amply proportioned buttocks of some annoyingly oversized tourist sqaushing my petit features!
I've welcomed them all over the years you know, a multitude of nationalities, colours and creeds, from tiny tots to super sized mooses, from sight seeing green welly brigaders to low life tearaways with devestating spray cans and IQ's in single digits.
Young lovers have made me blush, old couple's have held hands and reminissed, and the world has become a harder and more brutal place as the chance to slow the pace of life and smell the roses becomes a forgotten luxury for most people, it seems to my plank like head.
Damn it, a family approaches, picnic clutched in expectant hands and eyes a plenty on my cute framework. My sun worshipping was enjoyable though shortlived, as I await the pleasantries of another set of bums in my face.
No one ever told me this would be easy.
